FAQ: GoLogic software

Which versions of Windows does GoLogic™ support?

Both 32-bit and 64-vit versions of Windows® 2000, XP, and Vista are supported by version 5.x and above.

Our older version 4.34 software is still available for download and can be installed under Windows 98se, ME, NT4, 2000, and XP. This older software neither runs under Vista nor 64-bit versions of Windows. Technical support for obsolete software is still available, but any bugs which may exist cannot be corrected.

Can the GoLogic™ be used with Unix/Linux or an Apple?

No. Although Windows® emulators exist for these platforms, the GoLogic™ USB drivers cannot be used with Unix/Linux/Apple platforms.

Can I link two or more GoLogic units into one, large logic analyzer?

No.

Can the GoLogic™ be used with stand-alone oscilloscopes?

Yes. The GoLogic's™ trigger-out connector outputs a TTL rising edge signal when it triggers. This signal can be used to trigger an external oscilloscope so that the logic analyzer and scope data is time-aligned. The GoLogic™ includes a coaxial cable for the trigger-out connector.

Can scope data be viewed with the GoLogic™ software?

Yes. Scope data can be viewed in the WaveForm window. Our ScopeLink feature imports data from Tektronix, LeCroy, and Agilent digital storage oscilloscopes via RS-232, GPIB, or Ethernet connection.

Can the trace data be graphed?

Yes. Trace data can be viewed as a "Time vs. Magnitude" graph in the waveform window. This feature is most useful when the logic analyzer captures output data from an A/D converter.

Can the trace data be exported to other applications?

Yes. The Numeric window can be exported to an ASCII text file. The trace data can be formatted as binary, octal, signed/unsigned decimal, or hexadecimal values so that Excel or MathCad can easily import the file.

Can I create a custom Plug-Ins for the GoLogic™ software?

Yes. The Plug-In Development Kit (PDK) allows you to create custom data analysis windows for the GoLogic™ software. No Windows programming experience is required to create a disassembler Plug-In. However, C programming knowledge is required. We provide example C source code and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 example projects. The PDK is provided free to our customers and is available on our Downloads page.

Can I create custom software to control the GoLogic™?

Yes. The Software Development Kit (SDK) provides C/C++ static and dynamic link libraries that interface with the GoLogic™. A Visual Basic example is also provided. The SDK is provided free to our customers and is available on our Downloads page.
